[Tomioka Silk Mill and Related Sites in Gunma !!]
Long time ago,Gunma 's silk was the most extravagant in the world.
There are four places that make silk abroad, let me introduce
these places to you all:
First,「Tajima Yahei Sericulture Farm」Constructed in 1863.
The house’s main feature is it's roof.
It is quite unique.
They made elevation on the roof and installed windows.
This installation was to create good ventilation so they could feed
silkworms that will be stronger than others.
"cool iku" is from Mr.Tajima Yahei, he controlled the
temperature and the humidity to create a successful way of keeping
silkworms and silkworm eggs.
The Admission is free

From 9:00am to 4:00pm
It's opened between the main house 1st floor upper row.

Second,「Takayama-sha Ruins」Built in 1883.
The site of Takayama-sha is the birthplace of Mr.Chogoro Takayama.
Takayama-sha is the place where he researched the sericulture method "Seioniku" and provided guidance to employees.
It functions like a school that teaches Japanese and Korean people.
Admission fee :500yen
(* Free for Fujioka citizens)

Thirdly, 「Arafune Cold Storage」is made in Shimonita ! They created
it to function as a kind of refrigerator to keep a vast amount of
silkworm eggs.
They also used natural wind to control
Arafune Cold Storage’ temperature!
The creators are extremely talented!

Last,「Tomioka Silk Mill」Made in 1872, closed in 1987.
Tomioka Silk Mill has been running for 115 years!
As you can see , the material is that of Western Countries and Japan .
Tomioka Silk Mill’s goal was to integrate all of them
so Gunma’s Silk could be exported all over the world.

They also filmed one movie inspired and related to
Tomioka Silk Mill’s history.
The title of the movie is「Akai tasuki」(赤い襷)
It would be a great way to learn about the history of this Mill.
